This month, a diet company named a product Fast-5. The company functionally said that Fast-5 isn’t significant because it doesn’t sell anything. They assert that because Fast-5 doesn’t track membership or quantify sales and participation, they aren’t infringing on a valuable trademark. We disagree and we’re taking steps to help Fast-5 overcome the infringement on its trademark, but until that happens, it’s time to set the record straight. The REAL Fast-5 isn’t selling answers! It’s growing community and helping people to find real, sustainable success. We plan to do our part to help make 2014 Fast-5’s break out year

Meat Leads to Inflammation? Thursday, December 26th, 2013 Written by: Kevin Cann             Here we go again.  Another study was just published that showed how dangerous and deadly eating meat is.  This research study came out of Harvard University and we all know how wicked smaht they are.  But before you replace your grass-fed burger with tofu, let us take a look at this research study.            For those of you who have not seen this study, the abstract is here, http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nature12820.html and there was a write-up done by NPR here, http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2013/12/10/250007042/chowing-down-on-meat-and-dairy-alters-gut-bacteria-a-lot-and-quickly?sc=tw&cc=share.  In a nutshell the researchers were looking at the gut microbiome and how it responds to two different diets; an all animal based diet and an all plant based diet.  The study concluded with the researcher stating the following:“Finally, increases in the abundance and activity of Bilophila wadsworthia on the animal-based diet support a link between dietary fat, bile acids and the outgrowth of microorganisms capable of triggering inflammatory bowel disease. In concert, these results demonstrate that the gut microbiome can rapidly respond to altered diet, potentially facilitating the diversity of human dietary lifestyles.”In other words the researchers concluded that an animal based diet increases a microbe that causes inflammation.  Before we go any further let us look at this animal based diet.  One of the researchers, Lawrence David, stated that “Breakfast was eggs and bacon.  Lunch was ribs and brisket, and then for dinner, it was salami and prosciutto with an assortment of cheeses.  The volunteers had pork rinds for snacks.”  This looks very similar to the Paleo diet that Dr.

A growing number of people attempting to get in shape fast are intrigued by high-intensity interval training, or HIIT. Simply put, HIIT is a cardiorespiratory training technique alternating short bouts of intense anaerobic exercise and brief recovery intervals to maximize the efficiency of a workout. The trick is to push yourself hard enough in a short period of time that you cannot exercise more. A typical HIIT workout lasts from 20 to 30 minutes

I Was Surprised How Easy It Was…. 1 Comment Monday, December 9th, 2013 Testimonial written by: Melissa C.Hi Robb,I happened upon your book about a month ago when browsing some health related material on my Nook. My two oldest kids (I have 4) do crossfit, and I heard about the Paleo Diet through the newsletters I would receive from the crossfit team. I never actually tried crossfit myself (funny that I would sign my kids up for it, right?) because I felt I was much too heavy and out of shape. An embarrassing story: A few months ago, the Crossfit Kids component had to move the location of their gym due to a fire.

The last week of Shake Up November is upon us. If you will recall; my intentions in creating this challenge was to shed some light on whether or not breakfast is really the most important meal of the day, the difference between “shaking it up” and juicing, the nutritional breakdown of a typical American breakfast, to share recipes and encourage you all to get some quality nutrition in your bellies to start your day off strong, and to create an eBook with shake recipes – But…there’s still one topic I’d like to cover. Intermittent Fasting and whether or not it’s right for you.Last week Monday I wrote about how, what, and when we eat has an affect on our hormones; which can directly affect how efficiently our metabolism is working. Keeping in mind that each person is different, composed of different genetics, some sleep/rest more than others, some exercise/train harder and more frequently than others…this is why it’s so hard to convince the general population that just because you read about a new diet/fitness trend on the internet and that “it gets you results quick and easy” it may not be right for you. The general rule of thumb: If it sounds too good to be true; it probably is.First, I know plenty of people who follow and intermittent fasting protocol and have great success in eating this way, their energy levels are great, they sleep well, they don’t have unusual cravings, and are able to maintain desired leanness and lower levels of body fat

I thought you might like to know how we’re getting on with our intermittent fasting (or 5:2 fast diet) that we started in June this year just before we went on our cycling trip along the Danube.Well, it’s going wonderfully! I’ve lost the 5 kilos I put back on after my initial diet three years ago when I lost 20 kilos, despite the fact that I am now eating a lot of foods I had thought I’d have to give up forever.I actually look forward to our fast days, when I have 500 calories and Jean Michel has 600, and which we plan according to what’s going on that week but which are usually 3 or 4 days apart. Mondays and Thursdays or Fridays are typical choices, but the beauty of the 5:2 fast is that there are no fixed days.  We continue to always eat the same thing on those days, as it suits us that way.The amazing thing is that I am not hungry on fast days

The American dream is all about making a fortune on your terms, not working for The Man on his. If you’ve got big ideas and feel stifled by your current career path, it’s natural to begin pondering what it would be like to kick down the walls of your cubicle and start fresh with a company you believe in and trust: your own. However, the worst mistake would be to act purely on passion without reasoning how you’ll make your dream come true, logically and deliberately, only to end up back where you started. As two entrepreneurs who’ve had some success in going our own way (and plenty of failure we’ve learned from as well), we can show you how to bring this fantasy to fruition.10 Ways to Kick Ass at Work>>> FOLLOW YOUR HEART According to researchers at the University of Tennessee, about 50% of all businesses fail, with 25% closing their doors by the end of Year One. Often, the reason boils down to greed and impatience: People want to get rich quick and can’t handle losses, so they pack it in before they’ve given their venture a chance to succeed.
