No, core training is when you target the muscles around your abdomen and lower back (your “core”). Strength training is when you use weights to train any muscle group.

Ghrelin and entrainment

“New” research on ghrelin
Apparently, scientists have now discovered ghrelin’s role in meal initiation and it’s entrainment to habitual meal patterns. Funny, because I’ve been talking about this since I started the blog. Judging from the quick look through my collection of ghrelin related research papers, it seems the earliest paper mentioning this effect of ghrelin in humans is from 2001. The entrainment of ghrelin is part of what makes the 16 hour fast so easy after a few days adaptation.
Though it’s not mentioned in the link, ghrelin has other interesting effects as well, such as stimulating brain functions of spatial learning and memory development. From an evolutionary perspective this makes sense; the urge to find food may create more competitive skills to ensure survival.

Researchers have found that a (virtually unknown to the public) form of cholesterol called oxycholesterol may be your most serious cardiovascular health threat.
“Total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), and the heart-healthy high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) are still important health issues,” says study leader Zhen-Yu Chen, Ph.D., of Chinese University of Hong Kong. “But the public should recognize that oxycholesterol is also important and cannot be ignored.
Our work demonstrated that oxycholesterol boosts total cholesterol levels and promotes atherosclerosis [“hardening of the arteries”] more than non-oxidized cholesterol.”

Q.     So, how do we get this oxidized cholesterol – oxycholesterol?
A.     Fried food, processed food, junk food…basically all of the food that makes you fat also has high levels of oxycholesterol. Quel surprise.

The basis of Tabata Training is 4 minutes of intense interval training. What you are doing is taking an exercise we’ll use sprints as an example here. Sprint as hard as you can for 20 seconds Walk for 10 seconds Repeat 7 more times for a total of 8 sets. So what you have is a total of 4 minutes workout time. For those of you who are regular followers of the site, now you will no doubt be experts in using spices from that infamous spice rack in your kitchen. I am about a day late in releasing my free "vacation prep" report, but it wound up being 16 pages longer than expected. People have been asking me for something like this for about 2 years. I procrastinated quite a bit, but my hope is that you will find it is worth the wait. I apologize ahead of time for not answering many comments the past week. It was because I was focusing on this report and giving it my all. I will do my best to catch up on as many comments as possible next week.
