Alice Walker, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and activist, once said that in nature, nothing is perfect. “Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways and they’re still beautiful,” she continued. She might be right about forests and stuff, but there is one flawless thing that can be found in the natural world, and her name is Mindy Kaling.

As sure as there are seven days in the week, I can count on the fact that at least one of those days, I’ll come home from work feeling totally drained. On these nights, I want nothing more than to plop on the couch with Netflix and takeout. And, I’ll be honest, sometimes that is exactly what I do. But most of the time, the thing that saves me from blowing my budget on egg rolls and Kung Pao chicken is the one-pot dinner.

So, when you just don’t feel like cooking, consider these 18 dinners your lifeline. Most kitchen organizing tools either get the job done or look pretty — they rarely achieve both. (Looking at you, Anthropologie egg trays that serve no real purpose!) That’s why we love the stuff from YAMAKAZI home so much. Its entire line of organizers is elegant, minimalist, and effective.

“Renew your room in less than three hours.” That’s the tagline on the Smart Tiles website, where you can find their range of self-adhesive and removable tiles. I’m always wary of any promise of simplicity, as there are often a bunch of tools involved in a project — tools that I do not and will never own — or the project itself isn’t beginner-friendly.

But the Smart Tiles website promises their product can be installed without any mess or special tools, are easy to clean, and are resistant to the heat of stovetops and humidity of bathrooms. A quick search online also generated some positive reviews. As a renter, I found those all reaffirming, so I thought I’d give them a try.

Joanna Gaines might have started out purely in the design world, but with the launch of her restaurant and first cookbook, Magnolia Table, she’s made the full transition to running a lifestyle empire. Her cookbook is full of recipes and the inevitable stories that accompany them. There’s the biscuit recipe that Chip can’t get enough of, and the casserole recipe that has a sneaky amount of vegetables that her kids don’t seem to notice.

My biggest question for someone who loves cooking is always the same: What’s your favorite grocery store? It’s so fun to watch as people’s eyes light up and they explain their shopping strategy. So, when I recently sat down with Gaines to talk about her new cookbook, I had to ask what her favorite grocery store in Texas is.

If you’ve ever been grocery shopping in Texas, the answer isn’t too surprising.

I’m obsessed with KIND bars. I’d rather have a Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt KIND bar than any other candy bar in the check-out aisle. They’re crunchy, salty, sweet, chocolatey, and savory, but they’re not too sticky-sweet or full of sugar. I’d even rather have them than the big boxes of fancy chocolates that tend to show up at candy-giving holidays like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. Sure, a big cardboard heart looks nice on Instagram, but I’d rather have the dark chocolate, nuts, and sea salt than a raspberry-filled truffle any day.
