It’s time to amp up the intensity. Circuit, HIIT, and Tabata training produce killer results in little time. Circuit training involves moving from one workout directly to the next, HIIT is short bursts of intense exercise followed by quick rest, and Tabata (a form of HIIT) is strictly 20 seconds of intense work followed by 10 seconds of recovery for eight cycles.

First, I discuss the interaction between coffee intake and a title=”The Definitive Guide to Insulin, Blood Sugar amp; Type 2 Diabetes (and you’ll understand it)” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/diabetes/”insulin/a. Does coffee stimulate its secretion? Does it impair insulin#8217;s function, or our body#8217;s reaction to it? Find out how you should approach coffee on a Primal Blueprint eating plan. Then, I explore the suitability of dietary fat in the post-workout meal. Does it belong? Should you be stocking skim a title=”Dairy and Its Effect on Insulin Secretion (and What It Means for Your Waistline) ” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/dairy-insulin/”milk/a, de-fatted chicken breast, non-fat a title=”Yogurt Mania” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/yogurt-mania/”yogurt/a, and cartons of egg whites for your post-workout meals? If you#8217;ve just lifted something heavy, should you therefore shun the yolks […]

Leftover salsa and stale tortillas are heated up with a few a title=”Egg Purchasing Guide” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/egg-purchasing-guide/”eggs/a and any other leftovers you want to throw in the pan. Basically, it’s a scramble but one with spicy, fresh, lively flavor./p
pLuckily, stale tortillas don’t make or break the dish. Chilaquiles are plenty delicious with just eggs, homemade salsa, jalapenos and cilantro. If you like, slice up some a title=”Primal Tex Mex Tortillas and Taco Seasoning” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-tex-mex-tortillas-and-taco-seasoning/#axzz22yNRgPSS “homemade Primal tortillas/a and serve them on the side. Those who love traditional chilaquiles, however, will skip all that and just stick with a big plate of soft scrambled […]

Although there’s admittedly less pressure to grab hold of every last warm day in my current locale, I remember savoring those final weeks of summer in Northern New England. Time was truly of the essence, and we didn’t waste a day with both fall and school on the horizon again. No matter where we live, I think summer inspires a leisure we more readily forgo in other months when routine often has greater hold of our days. In an odd sort of way, watching the latest BBC Horizons documentary on ‘Eat, Fast Live Longer‘ was a lot like watching myself discover fasting all over again.
Dr Michael Mosley, the show’s host begins by trying to combat the ‘ravenous affects of aging’.
His solution? Fasting
But not just fasting. Intermittent Fasting.
And… Not just intermittent fasting. Eat Stop Eat style fasting…Almost.
To start the show off Dr Mosley states that traditionally exercise has always been the way to ‘stay healthy’. The more the better. In general I agree with the recommendation of exercising for overall health benefits, but with certain caveats — namely the ‘more is better’ part. As we know, chronic exhaustive exercise can lead to systemic low grade inflammation — definitely something we want to avoid. So some exercise is good, but too much can actually be detrimental to long term health.  So when Dr. Mosley stated “I have never run […]

Our bodies send us a lot of other confusing and even misleading signals #8211; but they don#8217;t always pertain to food. Any of our base physiological processes will manifest as messages, cravings, and desires. That#8217;s how the body gets us to perform tasks (like eating because of hunger, drinking because of thirst, and sleeping because of drowsiness), by creating physiologically-driven desires and motivations. In theory, these motivations match up with what#8217;s best for us in that given situation and improve our chances of survival. Our bodies mean well. When they tell us to do or not to do something, they#8217;re doing their best with the available information. If you place yourself in an evolutionary novel environment, […]

Do you love bubble tea? Personally, I can’t walk past a bubble tea shop without suddenly craving one of these sweet, ice-cold beverages dotted with chewy boba tapioca pearls. It’s the most thirst-quenching snack I can think of. Fortunately for my addiction, bubble tea is super easy to make at home.
