Testimonial: Paleo Remission Of Severe RA 3 Comments Monday, January 13th, 2014 Testimonial written by: Laura PeckI was diagnosed with RA in 2002. I am a second generation RA sufferer so I looked to my mother for guidance. She had advanced RA (which means that her joints had twisted) within 4 years of onset and traditional treatment by a Rheumatologist. In desperation she had researched the new internet and found the Minocin treatment

8 ‘Feel Great’ Turkey Day Rules For A Happy, Healthy Holiday Thursday, November 28th, 2013 “Thanksgiving, man. Not a good day to be my pants.” –Kevin JamesToday is the BIG day. The turkey’s in the oven, the pre-game festivities are underway. It’s Thanksgiving and that marks the official beginning of the holiday ‘eating season’. Some of you may have been training for this all year, while others have been ‘saving themselves’ or maybe even dreading the huge meals and month long holiday food ambush.

If you are like many people I know, after Thanksgiving you feel terrible about the food choices you made and think you have totally blown your “diet.” Some will decide to take matters into their own hands immediately and get back on track. Others may start the spiral downward till New Years and let all their hard work for the year be sabotaged. And then there are those who may have heard about new research on intermittent fasting and think that’s the way to undo the holiday damage. In an unpublished study of 26 obese adults, those who fasted completely every other day and ate with no restrictions the rest of the time lost about the same amount of weight in two months as those who didn’t fast at all. But four months later, after patients were off the intervention, those who had the initial “intermittent fasting” intervention had dropped more pounds and had greater improvements in memory than those on a standard diet. [Tweet this.]Study author William Troy Donahoo, Ph.D., said at a conference that the difference in weight loss may have been due to people continuing to fast after the study ended, or that fasting somehow changes your metabolism. So should we all jump on this bandwagon

Adopting a philosophy of self-experimentation can make a tremendous difference in your life. Choosing to experiment with new ideas can help you start a successful business. Choosing to experiment with sharing your work can launch your career as a writer or an artist. And choosing to experiment with different diets and workouts can help you discover a fitness and health strategy that works for you.Image remixed from Skylines (Shutterstock). This post originally appeared on James Clear’s blog.Of course, self-experimentation is exactly the opposite of how most of us want to approach things. We would prefer that someone hand us a one-page sheet with the answers to our problems and say “Do this and you’ll be good to go.” Furthermore, if someone shares an idea that seems outlandish or weird, most of us would rather dismiss it than experiment for six months to see if it can actually work for us.Just to be clear, I’ve made my fair share of mistakes and have dismissed ideas without trying them in the past.
