What Kind of Hungry Are You? 24 Comments Wednesday, August 14th, 2013  Repeat after me, “Ice Cream (or food/drink of your choice) is NOT the miracle cure for (insert current life problem here).”  Come on- say it with me, “Ice cream is NOT the miracle cure for a bad day.” Okay, now let’s try this one, “I do not need to eat Breakfast at 7am, lunch at 12pm and dinner at 6pm if I’m not hungry at those times.” And one more for good measure, “If (insert spouse/friend/etc. name here) is eating pizza, I do not need to eat pizza too.” Now, how do you feel about the things you just said? What’s going on between those ears of yours? (I understand that some of you may not often experience ‘action’ in that region – but now would be a good time to go ahead and put on the old thinking cap.)I want you to think about everything you ate yesterday

Hi Everyone!Tonight’s workout is a 10 Minute HIIT Cardio Blast. There is a focus on the large muscles of the lower body, which leads to major calorie/fat torching. It was a fun, and challenging 10 minute workout. I warmed up with a 1 mile run on the treadmill, and followed this workout with 2.1 miles. I stuck to a comfortable pace

What’s the best protocol for fat loss? Well, it may just be tabata.Tabata is a high intensity training protocol, named after its creator; Dr. Izumi Tabata is a Japanese researcher who conducted a study on elite athletes and found their fitness levels improved by 28% when they performed the prescribed protocol of 20 second intervals of high intensity followed by 10 seconds of rest for a total of eight rounds, equaling four minutes in duration. The key to Tabata protocol is to put forth maximal effort for each 20-second interval. Keep in mind there’s a big difference between maximal effort and an increase in effort, so if you want to blast fat make sure you give it your all!Why Tabata Protocol WorksPerforming steady state cardio and maintaining the same moderate intensity level throughout an entire workout for 30-60 minutes burns calories while you’re in motion. That’s all fine and dandy, but the benefit of high intensity interval training like Tabata is that you can sizzle calories not only during the working intervals, but also during rest periods and for hours after the workout is complete.

Hi Everyone! This workout kicked my butt! Make sure you warm up (jog in place, do some walking or jump rope) to get your body ready to work hard. Warming up increases your ability to maximize the effort put out during the workout, and improves the calorie burn. This is an intense workout. The breakdown is similar to the breakdown I use in my Boot Camp classes.

You know what happens when you try to ‘bulk up’ (AKA bulking) with intermittent fasting? The same thing that happens when you ‘bulk up’ without intermittent fasting – you get fat.The concept of eating as much as 10,000 calories a day to build muscle is perpetuated by a few small groups of people: 20 year old guys (because it works for them as they’re still kids)  Supplement companies  Writers affiliated with supplement companies  People using steroids but who don’t want to tell you that they are using steroids  And last but not least (and likely the largest group); people who have been influenced by the opinions of the aforementioned in group 4. …That’s it.The most convincing evidence for grown men building muscle while bulking comes from guys I know who were using steroids and had to explain the new muscle growth to their friends/parents/loved ones/and anyone else who asked “how did you get so big?”The standard answers you get from guys who use steroids who don’t want to admit it goes something like this: “I’m just eating a ton of calories and getting my protein”So where does Intermittent Fasting fit into bulking? In my extremely biased opinion, Eat Stop Eat is one of the absolute best ways to lose fat and keep the fat off for good… but bulking? I don’t see a connection.Intermittent fasting, carb cycling, calorie cycling, protein cycling, high fat, high carb, they’re all different ways of desperately trying to make ‘eating for size’ actually work. But here’s the truth:Calories are permissive to the muscle building process. The driving force behind muscle growth happens in a gym, in a syringe or the combination of the two.Yes, Protein is also important. If you are not eating ‘enough’ you can hinder muscle growth
