My fasting article had a hugely positive response and from the looks of it many kinobody readers have adapted daily fasting into their routines with incredible results thus far. In this article I am going to share with you how I use a special approach to intermittent fasting and nutrition to maximize muscle and minimize fat. My approach is highly influenced by Martin Berkhan of Leangains with a few tweaks of my own to improve results.Cool Reasons to Fast – credit from Martin Berkhan of Leangains Here’s a quick primer on the benefits of intermittent fasting for anyone interested in improving their physique and mental state:• Greater insulin sensitivity, which allows your body to make better use of carbohydrates• A wide variety of potential health benefits, ranging from cardiovascular health and life extension to neuroprotective mechanisms that may protect against brain diseases such as Alzheimers.• Mental alertness, boost in metabolism and improved energy levels due to increased levels of norepinephrine.• Higher levels of growth hormone during the fast, which shifts fuel metabolism to fat burning and spares muscle protein.• Appetite suppression. Contrary to what people seem to believe, fasting will not make you ravenous

Forget the fountain of youth or anti-aging potions, the secret to extending youth is all in what you eat or don’t eat. Intermittent fasting combined with exercise can actually reverse the aging process in your muscle and brain tissue! If a younger, rejuvenated body and mind interest you, than intermittent fasting is a lifestyle worth investigating. Simple calorie restriction has long been known to increase life span, but it is unpleasant. Daily calorie restriction is closely associated with depressed mood and irritation (Roky, et al., 2000), but there is an alternative

Posted by Mike Stickel on Tuesday, July 19, 2011Over the past two years I’ve been following the conventional mantra of eating smaller meals often and generally following guidelines set out by the Beachbody programs I’ve done (e.g., P90X, Insanity, etc. [affiliate links]). As you can see from my transformation story it’s worked great so far.More recently I discovered the Paleo/Primal lifestyle and Intermittent Fasting. After reading more and more about these lifestyles it’s easier for me to relate to them than it is for me to relate to conventional wisdom (a term Mark Sisson uses to describe the current widespread health information/thought) — at least as far as eating goes. For the last month or so my nutrition goals have aligned more with Paleo/Primal standards as much as possible

Intermittent Fasting 101 – How to Start Burning Fat SAME DAY cash advance Editor’s note: This was originally written in 2008 and has been updated over the years to give the best information for you to understand on how to get started with “Intermittent Fasting”. Enjoy!Starting Your Own “Intermittent Fasting” LifestyleThe biggest question I have gotten since starting this site (The “IF” Life) in 2008, is how to effectively use “Intermittent Fasting” (also known simply as “IF”, hence the name of the site) to achieve their goals and maximum results. It is also the main reason I started this website, to help spread all the information below. Results and goals can vary by each person with fat loss, muscle gain, better health, improved performance in your sport of choice and more. With all that also factors in the individuality of what is a person’s insulin resistance, current body composition (body-fat%), daily lifestyle, eating habits, macronutrient ratios (carbs/protein/fat), type of exercise program, frequency and volume of training, recovery demands, and so forth. What I am trying to hint at is that you are unlikely to find large groups of people with the exact same set of parameters and responses to an intermittent fasting protocol. What does this mean? Well just that you need to start with a basic intermittent fasting (or “feeding” as mentioned below) format, and then learn how to monitor results and adjust as you go.Even down the road things will change as you improve health, lower insulin resistance and maybe change performance and recovery needs. So nothing is really ever just one set way (as it shouldn’t have to be).Life is dynamic (always changing and evolving) and so should be the way you see your own journey for health and fitness. What is Intermittent Fasting (IF)?For those that may not be familiar to the term, intermittent fasting is just taking “intermittent” times of fasting (no food) and working them into your lifestyle.

That wasn’t an intentional choice – it just worked out that way as various items caught my eye. All the same, why not round it off with an paper on intermittent fasting research, noticed by the folk who keep sci.life-extension stocked.Intermittent fasting and calorie restriction are two ways of reducing your calorie intake to obtain health benefits.

Tabata Training was developed by Dr. Izumi Tabata in Tokyo, He figured out a way to get maximal anerobic and aerobic benefits from a short and simple workout which can be done with a variety of exercises. I like to use these as a short workout when I have limited time; Often doing 5-10 minutes of Tabata Protocol followed by some stretching.Twenty – TenTabata training is simply doing an exercise for 20 seconds non stop then taking 10 seconds off before repeating the cycle for 8 cycles this means you can get a hugely effective workout in about 5 minutes per exercise. Which will test you not only aerobically but will build muscular endurance and size.Proven Benefits- A Hugely effective fat burner, due to effect on the metabolism.- Release of Anabolic Hormones thanks to Lactic acid release in muscles.- Short and Effective workouts are ideal for those who have limited time to workout.- Can be done anywhere with anything from Crunches to Heavy Squats. How to Get StartedGetting started with Tabata is easy you just need to pick and exercise and keep your eye on the clock the 20/10 intervals are a rough guideline so don’t sweat it if you rest for a second too long or do the exercise for 23 seconds instead of 20.
