So many of my family’s meal plans revolve around our calendar. We’ll need a slow cooker dinner or a quick meal that can be eaten between work and school events — but occasionally there is a week that is free from obligations, so I can cook and eat whatever I want.

This week I’m picking five new-to-me winter meals that I’m just honestly really excited to cook and eat. Some might not pass muster for my elementary-aged kids, but we’ll never know if we don’t try.
