Only 10 percent (or less, ideally!) of a dog’s total calorie requirements should come from treats or human food. Maybe you know that — but that doesn’t mean Sir Riggins does! And he’s always giving you those sad puppy dog eyes every time you open the fridge.

Instead of giving in and tossing him a piece of your waffle, why not give him one of these food-themed dog toys? They’re not exactly the same, but we’re guessing he won’t mind too much.

We scoured Amazon and these are the cutest food-themed dog toys we could find. (They’re also all super durable.) Your pup will give them two paws up.

Magazine editors are constantly interviewing other people. (Same for website editors like me!) But I wanted to turn the table a bit. I asked 10 high-ranking editors at top national magazines to dish on the best $10 they ever spent on their kitchens.

Their answers included all sorts of things like ingredients, organizers, and tools. Can you guess what the Editor-in-Chief of Bon Appétit called out? Keep reading to find out.

Among the short list of ingredients I always have stocked in my freezer, puff pastry ranks high at the top. It’s a good thing to have on hand to turn out fast and fancy appetizers like baked brie and cheesy pinwheels — and it makes for quick savory dinner tarts and bakery-worthy breakfast treats. So it’s totally worth having a couple of boxes on hand at all times.

The best-tasting frozen puff pastry is made with all butter, rather than a mix of butter and shortening or another fat, but unfortunately, that can come at a cost. Leave it to Trader Joe’s to solve the problem: I am obsessed with their puff pastry — because it’s made with all butter and tastes amazing, and because it’s only $3.99.

The one drawback is that it’s a seasonal item — but guess what? It’s back in stores right now!

There’s something magical about a good dish-drying rack — the way the dishes stand up and drip dry without getting water spots, the cutlery all organized in one section, the visual reminder that you’ve washed all the dishes and now it’s up to the air to do the rest of the work.

Plus, dish racks can be used for things other than holding your soon-to-be-dry dishes. If you’re looking for an excuse to swap out your old, boring version for a flashier model, consider this: You can actually repurpose the old one around the kitchen, instead of just throwing it away or donating it.

Here are five good ways to organize your kitchen with a dish rack.

Breakfast for dinner is a weekly staple in our house. It’s easy on the cook (and the wallet!) and the kids love it, too. Chrissy Teigen’s Crispy Parmesan Waffles are going to be your new favorite breakfast-for-dinner recipe and here why: They’re more than 50 percent cheese by volume but they cook up light as a soufflé and crispy like Parmesan frico.

Teigen serves her waffles alongside bacon, eggs, and a spicy maple butter, but these waffles can be the base for sausage gravy or used in place of bread for breakfast sandwiches. Come dinnertime, make them a savory bed for chicken nuggets — making them the newest dinner hero in your breakfast-for-dinner rotation.

“Do you want fries with that?”

“No, thank you, but can I have some bakes, please?”

“Bakes” is a word that I just made up exactly one second ago to define baked potatoes that resemble fries. I already know what you’re probably thinking: Stop trying to make bakes happen; it’s never going to happen. To the haters, I say: Watch me! My life-long mission to make bakes happen starts right now.

When it comes to canned goods, I’ve learned two main things from buying them over the last decade. For starters, they’re pretty darn helpful for getting dinner on the table and other meals made — even when you think you have nothing in the house. And second, the brand really does matter. Not all generic canned products are the same, and name-brand doesn’t always mean better quality.

I’ve tried all sorts of brands for canned veggies, soups, and pantry staples in order to find my favorites (that won’t totally bust my budget). What I’ve discovered is that a few big stores have amazing generic canned options that help save me money, eat well, and keep my pantry stocked at all times.
