Post Turkey-Day HIITFat Burning Body Weight WorkoutAlright who’s ready for a fun, fast circuit that will get you back in fat-burn mode pronto? If you raised your hand, this one’s for you!My favorite kind of body weight circuits combine explosive cardio moves with isolated strength-building and will have you finished in less than 30 minutes. I hope all of my American Fit Fam had a massively awesome Thanksgiving – and if you’re not in the US I hope you had a massively awesome week in general! I spent Thanksgiving with my cousin and his family in San Francisco – and the kids helped me make this workout video which is why it’s EXTRA AWESOME BIG NEWS by the way – I’m officially moving to San Francisco! I’m so excited!Look forward to 2014 being full of workouts in California

Diagnosed With MS – Now Stronger And Healthier Than Ever! 5 Comments Monday, November 4th, 2013 Testimonial written by Becky Chadwell:I can’t begin to say enough thanks to the paleo world out there. In November of 2012, after a heavy workout, my pinky and ring finger on each hand started tingling. I thought to myself, “Great, turn 32 and I’m falling apart from lifting 60 pounds.” I was really careful and tried to stretch but after about a week of this the numbness and tingling invaded both of my hands entirely.Being a nurse I thought through all sorts of terrible possibilities and settled on calling a chiropractor because I must have pulled or compressed something in my back.  It was about 2 weeks after all of this that I woke up one day and the tingling was running through both of my big toes

48: James Clear | All Things Intermittent Fasting (IF 101)Posted on 09/30/2013 by Jimmy Moore • AIR DATE: October 3, 2013 at 7PM ETFEATURED EXPERT: James ClearFEATURED TOPIC: “All Things Intermittent Fasting (IF 101)”Just mention the word “fasting” to the man on the street and the reaction you’ll get from most of them would probably fall somewhere between completely scoffing at the idea to the sheer terror at the realization of going without food for more than a few hours. This concept of fasting even on an intermittent basis, as has become popularized in the Paleo community in recent years, is certainly a highly controversial and misunderstood strategy that could very well be the last piece of the puzzle in optimizing your weight and health issues. Is intermittent fasting (aka IF) the right way to go for everyone, especially for women who seem to have more difficulty with this? Is there anyone who absolutely shouldn’t IF or even those who must do it for therapeutic purposes?

As you know the Tabata Training Method is a high intensity workout consisting of 20 seconds intense workout following by a 10 second rest period and then repeated 7 more times, totalling up to a 4 minute workout. As easy as this may sound, it’s actually intended to work you harder than you would in a normal 60 minute gym session. Why? Because for each of those 20 second bursts of exercise you should be working at your optimum level without fail.It does and will hurt, particularly the first few times, and it’s for that reason that we recommend starting off slower and building your fitness levels before giving it 150%. But once you’re working out at your best you’ll achieve those results you’ve always wanted. Why is Tabata so effective? The main reason is due to your Excess Post Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) which is an increased rate of oxygen intake following intensive exercise. After exercising your body will go into a recovery mode and oxygen is transported round the body to help it get back to its normal ‘resting’ state. What this means is that that your calorie consumption will increase and fat will be broken down and released into the blood where it is used up as fuel more quickly to restore itself. The effect of this is greatest straight after exercising and gradually reduces, but can last up to a total of 48 hours post-exercise
