I am about a day late in releasing my free "vacation prep" report, but it wound up being 16 pages longer than expected. People have been asking me for something like this for about 2 years. I procrastinated quite a bit, but my hope is that you will find it is worth the wait. I apologize ahead of time for not answering many comments the past week. It was because I was focusing on this report and giving it my all. I will do my best to catch up on as many comments as possible next week.

No nonsense 6 pack abs

Admittedly I’ve been very heavy on the science and philosophy in my last couple posts, so I’d like to bring this one all the way back to square one.
Addressing wants and needs.
Bottom line: Many of us workout, slave away in the gym, watch (stress over) what we eat, read about nutrition, read about training…because we want to look better.
And we have some pretty visual goals when it comes to what “look better” really means.
It doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman…at some point you’ve said to yourself “I want a 6 pack”
A 6 pack may not mean your are healthy, or even in shape..but the visual effect is striking!
So here is the no nonsense truth about getting a 6 pack:
You already have one.
No kidding. It’s there..it’s just being blurred out by a layer of body fat.
So the solution should be obvious – remove the fat, reveal the […]

Recipe for a Fat Man

Matt McClain – Rocky Mountain News

Reading the comments from my last two posts (here and here), I was struck by the very strong, yet very different opinions about the cause(s) of obesity.
Some people believe in ye olde Calories in vs Calories Out theory, while others believe in the power of insulin while others blame their DNA.
So, I raise the question….Is there a one size fits all cause / cure for obesity?
Or are there a whole bunch of factors coming together to create America’s obesity epidemic?
To aid in the discussion, I have put together a list of the factors that I think influence human obesity.
Feel free to comment/criticize or add to the list

Every January, a flood of new diet books push their way onto the shelves of your local bookstore.
And each promises to contain the secret to successful weight loss.
.
Unfortunately, they’re all wrong.
And what’s even worse, is that most of them don’t even know how wrong they are.
.
That’s because most diet gurus focus on the external factors of weight loss – food, exercise, supplements.
These are the counting calories, counting carbs, eating nothing by grapefruit kind of diet gurus.
.
Luckily for us all, in the past few years, we have begun to see the evolution of the diet guru.
This new breed of diet expert will not only tell you what to eat and how to move, but they will teach you how to think and how to self-motivate yourself towards a slimmer, trimmer you.
Motivation. That’s the ticket.

Without proper motivation, dieters cheat.
A little at first. And then a little more. And then a little more.
And […]

5 Bucks for a Can of Coke?

Yep.
You heard it here first.
$5 for a can of Coke.
And I’ll tell you why:

America is fat…really fat
American media keeps telling Americans to be afraid because they are soooo fat.
American politicians tell the media that they are concerned that so many Americans are fat.
And according to the laws of physics, Media fearmongering + faux Politico concern = Gov’t Intervention

But, what kind of intervention?

Public service announcements?
A national exercise program?
A subsidy on broccoli?

Nah, all of those options cost money.
What we need is an anti-obesity plan that actually makes money for the government.
Because we all know that the government needs money. Between the recession and rising unemployment and the war(s) and the potential cost of President Obama’s healthcare reform package, the feds are strapped for cash.
So, how can the gov’t raise big wads of money in order to give America a collective six-pack?
.
Simple.
Taxes
More specifically, sin taxes on the food and/or behaviors that lead to […]
