Something about summer makes me want to simplify. Maybe it’s the long, warm days tugging me out of the kitchen and into the sun, or maybe it’s the abundance of perky produce begging to be no more than subtly embellished. Maybe it’s both. Counting calories, using food scales, tracking macronutrients, timing meals down to the minute, and using other tedious dieting methods are all the rage these days. If it isn’t backed by science or uttered by some decorated nutritionist with a ton of letters behind his or her name, then it is thrown on the bro-science heap of hunches, uneducated opinions, and old wives tales.
