Something like 450 people are participating this inaugural year, which means that 450 people submitted candid photos and shared their goals and aspirations. Many of these people are admittedly self-conscious about their appearances #8211; which is often one of the reasons they#8217;re resolved to making the change in the first place #8211; and yet a title=”Success Stories in the Making” href=”http://www.marksdailyapple.com/category/success-stories-in-the-making/#axzz1r6e04dd2″there they are/a, online and uploaded for all to see. The prompt is #8220;Tell us why it#8217;s ethical to eat meat.#8221; To decide the winner or winners, they#8217;ve assembled a diverse mix of self-hating omnivores, self-hating sometimes-vegetarians, self-hating #8220;flexible vegans,#8221; and the guys with all those witty one-liners about food and grandmothers and #8220;mostly plants#8221; #8211; Michael Pollan, Jonathan Safran Foer, Peter Singer, Mark Bittman, and Andrew Light. A number of readers have asked me to chime in on the subject and I agreed to it, albeit somewhat reluctantly. After all, why does the burden of proof rest on us, the physiologically omnivorous hominids who are simply eating the foods we#8217;ve been eating for millions of years? But then I realized it might be a fun thing to write, to play around […]

Opposable thumbs? Great for building and using tools, but apes have them, too. Even the giant panda has an opposable sesamoid bone that works like a thumb. Bipedalism? Helped us avoid direct mid-afternoon sun and carry objects while moving around the environment (among other possible benefits), but plenty of other creatures walk upright, like birds and Bigfoot. The following is a letter written to us by Laura, and published with her consent. Laura, we’ll look forward to your visits!
Having lived on the Outer Banks for two and a half years, the only regret I have from my time here is not joining Knuckle Up sooner.  I have had such an amazing experience as a member of Knuckle Up and I cannot thank them enough.
When I first learned about Knuckle Up through the 2010 Get Pumped for Pink 10k, I was a little fearful to join.  I figured it was a place where super fit people worked out…what the heck would an overweight woman, with the main goal of losing weight, do there?

Sounds delicious, doesn#8217;t it? Let#8217;s go./p

pI am in training for my first ever marathon and have read your how to fuel a marathon. I did try the homemade hydration drink on my training run last week of 24km. I had 2 bottles of hydration and 2 bottles of plain water. I found the drink very sweet and you can definitely taste the black slat molasses. Swigging […]
